He actually thought that he could do it. His pride had lifted him up to the point that he thought himself to be better than the one who created him

Ezekiel 28:13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.

Since than he has done everything within his power to secure his place above God. With every attempt God has countered the attack and has in effect made it harder for the serpent to destroy his work i.e.(us) to clarify; the devil HATES us because God made us and therefore seeks to destroy all of man kind.

1Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Also note that his objective is not to mislead us. it is to make us all dead. the end of our deception is death

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

this is mans struggle. especially before the new testament, man was basically powerless to defend himself against the attacks of the devil there where some exceptions the profits and rulers got a portion of holy spirit upon them to help lead Gods people, not a common thing.

When the Devil first deceived mankind he gained dominion over all the earth

Luke 4:5 And the devil, taking him (Jesus) into a high mountain, showed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

Luke 4:6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

Now that Satan had the power over the earth he could now do anything with it that he desired, or so he thought. God had a plan and made a promise that he would send the seed of the woman to crush Satan’s head.

Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

It is imposable for God to lie.

Hebrews 6:18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible102 for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Titus 1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie; promised before the world began;

What God said or says is going to happen is going to happen. it’s good to know that the Devil can’t do anything to stop it from happening. He may slow things down a bit but it will still happen, God is not a liar. Our adversary knew of Gods plan (remember Genesis.3:15 God was talking to the Devil.) he didn’t know when or how but he had to stop it.

he sought to achieve his goal by deception for he is a liar and is the father of lies

John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

First he deceived Adam and Eve in the garden than he deceived Cain and caused him to rise up against Able. He continued until one family, eight people where left richous. God made a flood. He had to start over. The devil after the flood caused the people once again to rebel against the maker and built a tower to heaven, (has been suggested that this was not meant to literally reach the heavens but would be used as a point to study astrology). The people where scattered all over the earth.

I hope you can see the pattern. Throughout the entire old testament man was deceived, held hostage to the devils tricks. God ,however did not forget his promise; he reviled his people, the people who would carry the “red thread”. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Judah, David. the list goes on, the battle for our lives rages on until…

Matthew 1:20 But while he (Joseph) thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife; for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

The semmach! the branch of David! King of the Jews! Son of God! Our Lord and savior! The promised seed of the woman since before the world began! how exciting this must have been for Mary how exciting for Joseph (doubly good for him cause he got to keep his wife AND he was chosen to be the lawful father of JESUS CHRIST)!

Trouble brewed on the horizon however, some months lather Harod sought to destroy the only begotten son of God

Matthew 2:12 And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.

Matthew 2:13 And when they were departed behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

Matthew 2:14 When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:

(how stupid for the Devil to do. Is God not going to protect the child that he promised to man before history was recorded?) well in case you where wandering God did protect his son. and some thirty years later Jesus Christ got busy fulfilling the law.

Luke 3:21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,

Luke 3:22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

Still the adversary had not given up, he needed him to sin he could not afford one to be without sin, our lord was tempted in all ways and was still without sin.

Hebrews 4:15 For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Throughout the gospel the seed of the serpent continually sought to kill him. Ironically these where the religious leaders of the time. eventually Jesus Christ’s work was done he had fulfilled all of the law and had not sinned, he was offered as the Passover, he died for us and the people could not even know it. perhaps the devil thought for a moment that he had won the war perhaps for some time he rejoiced in his victory. he had in his haste forgotten to read the fine print. “ELI! ELI LAMA SADACHTHANI!” that is to say FOR THIS REASON HAST THOUGH SET ME ASIDE! wait what? he rejoices and in his last breath as he utters his last word “it is finished”? why?

1Corinthians 2:7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

Ephesians 2:22 In whom ye also are builded together for a habitation of God through the Spirit. That’s right! Jesus Christ managed to buy all of mankind out of the prison the bail was set and he paid it. Check and mate.

when Jesus Christ died he set us free when he raised and ascended into heaven. he made it available for us to receive and he sent

the comforter, the holy spirit. So… lets look

John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.

John 16:14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you.

John 16:15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall show it unto you.

Romans 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

Romans 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

take advantage of Jesus Christ’s completed works he not only set us free but he gave gifts unto men

Ephesians 4:7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

Eph 4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

Eph 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some prophets; and some evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

Eph 4:27 Neither give place to the devil.

Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

Romans 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

If God gave us the most precious thing that he had what than would he not give us

Philipians4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.

Philipians 4:5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.

Philipians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Philipians 4:9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Philipians 4:11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

Philipians 4:12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

Philipians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Matthew 21:21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.

Matthew 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

we have been instructed, we have no excuse. we know what god made available through Jesus Christ. Don’t go around letting yourself get kicked around buy that old serpent called the devil. how than do you do that? well, stick around, read the bible, and remember, if you really want to know, search for it like it is more precious than gold and more valuable than a ten pound diamond

Luke 11:9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

Luk 11:10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Luk 11:11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?

Luk 11:12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?

Luk 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit o them that ask him?

We have victory in Jesus.
